    Palästina ist offiziell Mitglied der Genfer Konventionen. Alle 190 Mitgliedsstaaten werden nun darüber verständigt.

    "Die Schweiz hat den von Israel scharf kritisierten Beitritt Palästinas zu den Genfer Konventionen formell bestätigt. Die von Palästinenserpräsident Mahmoud Abbas am 2. April unterzeichnete Beitrittsurkunde sei von der Eidgenossenschaft am 10. April registriert worden, teilte der Sprecher des Außenministeriums in Bern, Pierre-Alain Eltschinger, am Freitag der Nachrichtenagentur dpa auf Anfrage mit.

    Als Verwahrstaat (Depositarstaat) der Genfer Konventionen werde die Schweiz jetzt alle anderen der mehr 190 Unterzeichnerstaaten formell über den Beitritt Palästinas mit Wirkung vom 2. April informieren. Die vier Genfer Konventionen, die Teil des humanitären Völkerrechts sind, fordern unter anderem den Schutz der Zivilbevölkerung in besetzten Gebieten durch die jeweilige Okkupationsmacht. Untersagt ist danach auch die Umsiedlung von Bürgern der Besatzungsmacht in die okkupierten Gebiete." oe24.at
