    Syria: Terrorist Attacks Kill Four Citizens

    Terrorists fired Thursday a mortar shell which hit thAttacke roof of al-Sa'ada private school in al-Qanawat street in Damascus, causing the injury of two teachers.

    A source at Damascus Police Command told SANA that a mortar shell fell over the roof of al-Sa'ada private school, causing the injury of two teachers and material damage to the school.

    Armed terrorist groups fired 4 terrorist mortar shells on al-Shagour neighborhood in Damascus two days ago. Two of the mortar shells fell on Bader Eddin al-Hassni Institute for religious science, killing 14 students and injuring 86 others.

    One citizen was killed of mortar shells launched by terrorists on al-Tijara and al-Abassiyeen areas in Damascus.

    A police source told SANA a mortar shell fell on al-Tijara Corniche, killing one citizen and causing material damages to the properties.

    The source added 3 more mortars fell on the Abassiyeen square and the Mall, causing fire and material damages in the place.

    Meanwhile, A child was killed and 22 others wounded of terrorist mortars on Jaramana in Damascus countryside.

    A police Command source told SANA that 13 mortar shells launched by terrorists fell on the neighborhoods of al-Rawda, Qraiyat and other areas, claiming the life of one child and wounding 22 others in addition to huge material damages to the properties.

    In another context, an armed terrorist group assassinated veterinarian Nawras Salman al-Jba'ei and killed his 1-year-old son, while injuring his wife in Sweida on Wednesday evening.

    A Police Command source told SANA reporter that a group of armed terrorists intercepted the veterinarian's car as he was driving along with his son and wife between the villages of Rami and al-Shreihi in the eastern countryside of the province.

    The terrorists forced the family members to get off and opened fire on them, killing the father and his son and seriously injuring the mother, who was taken to a hospital in Sala village, the source added.

    Head of the Veterinarians Syndicate in Sweida Wael Bakri said al-Jba'ei was working at a Guidance Unit in al-Mashnef town and his assassination is an attempt to intimidate the veterinarians out of carrying out their national duties.

    Syrian Army Advances in Aleppo, Kills More Terrorists in Several Areas

    The Syrian Army continued Thursday their national duty in pursuing armed terrorist groups in different areas, having successful oSyrian Armyperations in Aleppo and Damascus countryside.

    A military source told SANA that army units advanced in al-Ramouseh and al-Ameriya neighborhoods in Aleppo and regained control over the fertilizer factory and the containers depot.

    The army units eliminated a huge number of terrorists in the operation, the source added.

    It affirmed the army units confronted armed terrorist groups tried to infiltrate into al-Ramouseh groves and Bustan al-Bach neighborhood from MTN area in Aleppo, killing and injuring their members and destroying their tools.

    Other Army units repelled terrorist groups who were attempting to infiltrate into al-Ramouseh farms and Bustan al-Bashar neighborhood, destroying their vehicles.

    Meanwhile, a military source told SANA the Army destroyed a convoy of terrorist's cars on Castillo-al-Jandoul circle in Aleppo, killing many terrorists.

    Meanwhile, A unit of the army destroyed a bulldozer bomb which was trying to infiltrate to safe areas in al-Ameriya in Aleppo, killing six terrorists among them the suicide bulldozer driver.

    A military source told SANA Thursday that an army unit eliminated all members of an armed terrorist group tried to attack Ark gas pipeline in Palmyra countryside .

    Units of the Army also eliminated a number of terrorists while storming their gatherings in Homs and countryside.

    A military source told SANA that a unit of Army killed many terrorists and wounded others near Abdullah bin Masoud mosque and al-Natour bakery in Bab Houd in Homs.

    The source added that another army unit eliminated members of a terrorist group near the Water treasurer in al-Samalel village in al-Houla.

    Units of the armed forces killed numbers of terrorists and injured others in the villages and towns of Nawa, Tal al-Jumou', Jellin, al-Mzeireeb, Dael, Atman and al-Rusoum in al-Lajat area and in Kherbet Mama in the countryside of Daraa.

    Other army units destroyed several terrorists' vehicles in the village of Um al-Awsaj and a den for leaders of terrorist groups in al-Mseifra.

    In Idleb, army units targeted and killed many terrorists in the villages and towns of al-Bsheiriyeh, Kherbet al-Jouz in Jisr al-Shughour area and in Huloul, Jabal al-Arbaeen, Kfarnubul, Kfarroumeh, Binnesh and M'artamsarin and al-Hamidiyeh in the countryside.

    Syria: 24 Hopefuls to Presidential Elections Announced by Deadline

    Speaker of Syria People's Assembly Mohammad JihadSyria al-Laham announced Thursday that Ziad Adnan Hakawati, Ahmad Ali Qsei'eh, Mohammad Mohammad Nassr Mahmoud, Ali Hassan al-Hassan, Ahmad Omar Dabba, Mahmoud Naji Moussa and Hossein Mohammad Tijan registered to stand in the presidential elections.

    Al-Laham said the Assembly received notes form the Supreme Constitutional Court that the new seven candidates had submitted applications to run for presidency.

    The candidates need to get written approvals from at least 35 MPs each, otherwise their applications would be dismissed.

    The total number of presidential candidates was put at 24 as the deadline of registration ended today. The Constitutional Court has already received candidacy applications from 17 persons.

    Putin Urges Ukrainian Army to Quit South-East

    Russian President Vladimir PutinRussian President Vladimir Putin told German Chancellor Angela Merkel the withdrawal of Ukrainian military units from the south-east of the country, ending violence and launching a national dialogue are key issues, the Kremlin said.

    The Kremlin also said that Merkel, in a call on Thursday it said she initiated, asked Putin to help free European military observers who are being held by pro-Russian groups in Ukraine.

    A spokeswoman for the German government said Merkel and Putin focused on the detention of the observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), a democracy watchdog.

    "The German chancellor reminded President Putin of Russia's responsibility as an OSCE member state and called on the president to exert his influence," Christiane Wirtz said.

    "They also spoke about the significance of elections in Ukraine on May 25, which are crucial for the stability of the country," he added.
