Jede Ibadah (gottesdienstliche Handlung) verfolgt einen spirituellen Wert, sei es das Gebet, das Fasten, die Hajj, das Wachsen lassen des Bartes, die Bedeckung nach den islamischen Richtlinien, das Spenden oder andere Dinge aus dem Islam. Denn die islamische Kultur basiert auf einem spirituellen Fundament, nämlich der Aqida des Islams. Neben diesen spirituellen Werten gibt es auch den materiellen Wert, also etwas woraus man einen Nutzen im Diesseits zieht. Hierzu gehört beispielsweise das Arbeiten, um letztendlich einen Lohn (Geld) zu erhalten. Niemand kann behaupten er geht arbeiten, um einem spirituellen Wert zu verfolgen. Man kann das Geld zwar auch in spirituelle Dinge investieren (wie das Spenden), aber hauptsächlich geht es um die eigene Versorgung bzw. das Erweitern des Besitzes (Kleidung, Nahrung, Autos etc.). Das System im Westen, der Kapitalismus, kennt keinen spirituellen Wert. Denn seiner Meinung nach haben das Jenseits und ein Gott, wenn es ihn denn geben sollte, keinen Einfluss auf das diesseitige Leben. Demnach richtet sich ihr ganzes Leben nur nach dem materiellen Wert. Sie versuchen aus jeder Sache einen Nutzen zu ziehen. Der Islam hat es geschafft beide Werte miteinander in Harmonie zu bringen. Viele Hindus beispielsweise haben genau die gegenteilige Auffassung der Kapitalisten, bei ihnen versucht man nur die Spiritualität hochzuhalten und die materielle Seite so weit wie möglich abzusondern. So sehen wir, dass sie versuchen ein sehr asketisches Leben zu führen, indem sie wenig essen, wenig Kleidung besitzen und nicht viel auf Hygiene achten und gesellschaftlich auch kaum aktiv sind. Diese Ideen haben sich in der Vergangenheit auch auf die Muslime übertragen, so sind nämlich die Sufis entstanden, die diese falschen Ideen mit dem Islam vermischt haben. Sie glauben auch, dass man sich von der Dunya so weit wie möglich entsagen muss, damit man Allah näher kommen kann. Doch der Islam kennt sowas nicht und er ist erhaben über sowas. Der Prophet (a.s.s.) hat ein bescheidenes Leben geführt, doch er ist auch arbeiten gegangen, er hat gefastet und sein Fasten gebrochen, und er hat auch geheiratet. Es gibt im Islam den sogenannten Begriff Zuhd, was so viel heißt wie "Entsagung (von der Dunya)". Sheikh Ibn Taymiyyah hat diesen Begriff aber schön erklärt, er sagte (sinngemäß): "Zuhd ist nicht, dass du keine Dunya besitzt, sondern dass die Dunya dich nicht besitzt." Und Al-Hasan sagte: "Zuhd zur Dunyaa bedeutet nicht, sich selbst zu verbieten was halaal ist, noch das Verschwenden von Geld, sondern zu wissen, dass das, was in Allaahs Hand ist, zuverlässiger ist als das eigene Selbst und was man in seiner Hand hat (d.h. besitzt)." [Entnommen aus: 'Tayseer Rab al-Bariya fee Sharh al-Arba'een an-Nawawi' p.436] Es geht also nicht darum sich dieser Dunya zu entsagen, sondern den Fokus im Leben nicht zu vergessen, nämlich Allahs Wohlgefallen zu erreichen, aber dabei trotzdem nicht zu vergessen, dass die Dunya ein Mittel zum Zweck ist und ein Hindernis zugleich. Wir sehen auch bei den christlichen Pfarrern beispielsweise wozu es führen kann, wenn man versucht alles Materielle abzuweisen und sich lediglich dem Spirituellen hinzuwenden. Der Zölibat verpflichtet jemanden dazu nicht heiraten zu dürfen und damit einen Instinkt des Menschen zu unterdrücken. Das Resultat sehen wir in den Medien: "Pfarrer vergreift sich an kleinen Kindern." usw... Der Kapitalismus erzieht die Menschen auch so, dass sie in jeglicher Handlung nur nach dem Nutzen einer Sache schauen sollen. Wenn es darum geht ein Menschenleben zu retten, so überwiegt dieser Wert in sehr vielen Fällen den ethischen Wert, der normalerweise dazu veranlasst doch zu helfen.
