Diese Angst ist das Ergebnis eines künstlich geschaffenen Feindbildes, das den islamischen Staat bereits seit seiner Entstehung begleitet. Studiert man die Geschichte des Kalifats genau, indem man die jahrhundertealten Klischees ignoriert, wird man feststellen, dass sich der islamische Staat zwar über weite Teile der Welt ausgedehnt hat, dass der Sinn seiner Expansion aber weder die Vernichtung noch die Ausbeutung anderer Völker war. Anders als die europäischen Staaten, verfolgte der islamische Staat während seines Bestehens keine kolonialistischen Ziele. Er betrieb keine imperialistische Außenpolitik. Die Merkmale des Imperialismus treffen auf das Kalifat nicht zu. Vielmehr nahmen die vielen verschiedenen Völker, deren Länder dem islamischen Staat angegliedert wurden, mehrheitlich den Islam an und identifizierten sich von da an mit dem Kalifat. Dies gilt für alle islamischen Länder, die man heute kennt. Die islamische Herrschaft wurde nicht als Fremdherrschaft betrachtet, so dass sich sogar jene, die nicht zum Islam konvertierten, dem islamischen Staat gegenüber loyal verhielten, etwa die Christen im islamischen Spanien, die die Reconquista, die Rückeroberung Spaniens durch die Christen aus dem nicht islamischen Norden der Iberischen Halbinsel, nicht mittragen wollten und für das Kalifat Partei ergriffen. Sie kämpften an der Seite der Muslime. Die heutige Zusammensetzung der Umma aus vielen verschiedenen Völkern, die im Laufe der islamischen Geschichte den Islam annahmen, spiegelt wider, dass das Kalifat die Menschen durch die Anwendung des Islam dauerhaft miteinander verschmolz.. Auch ohne islamischen Staat halten sie bis in die Gegenwart weiter am Islam fest, identifizieren sich mit ihm und fühlen sich als Gemeinschaft einander verbunden, ohne dass Zwang ausgeübt wird. Die Expansion des Kalifats ist nicht nur dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Menschen in den eröffneten Regionen in großer Zahl den Islam annahmen. Mit den islamischen Eröffnungen ging immer auch eine Blütezeit einher, die alle Bereiche erfasste und von der die Bewohner profitierten. Die Iberische Halbinsel gehört in diesem Zusammenhang zu den anschaulichsten Beispielen, weil Spanien vor seiner Eröffnung durch die Muslime das primitive europäische Mittelalter widerspiegelte, durch die islamische Herrschaft einen alle Bereiche umfassenden Aufstieg erfuhr und schließlich durch die Vertreibung und Ermordung der Muslime geradezu verödete. Dieser Verlauf ist historisch belegt. Mit dem Ende der islamischen Herrschaft in Spanien und dem Verschwinden der Muslime dort entwickelte sich das Land wieder zurück. Der islamische Staat betrieb keine Kolonialpolitik wie die europäischen Staaten. Seine Intention war gemäß den Vorgaben des Islam die Verbreitung der islamischen Botschaft, ohne die Menschen jedoch zur Annahme des Islam zu zwingen. Das Kalifat trat nie als Kolonialmacht auf und gebärdete sich nicht als Eroberer, denn die Bewohner eines eröffneten Gebietes wurden automatisch zu Bürgern des islamischen Staates mit den gleichen Rechten und Pflichten wie die Bürger der alten Provinzen des Kalifats. Der Reichtum und die Ressourcen eines Landes spielten bei den Eröffnungen keine Rolle, denn die Botschaft des Islam sollte zu allen Völkern durchdringen, ob ihr Land nun reich an Bodenschätzen war oder nicht. Während sich die Expansion des Kalifats positiv auf die Entwicklung der eröffneten Gebiete auswirkte und die Muslime in anderen Völkern Menschen sahen, denen sie die islamische Botschaft verkünden wollten, traten die Europäer anderen Völkern gegenüber schon immer als Herrenmenschen auf und blickten auf sie herab als Menschen zweiter Klasse. Mit ihrer Kolonialpolitik beuteten sie andere Völker aus und machten ihre Länder dadurch zu Entwicklungsländern, denen sie heute gönnerhaft ihre Entwicklungshilfen anbieten, die im Grunde nichts |
